Diary of a Rock Balancer ::

Stone Balance Art created (03 May 2016) and photographed by Michael Grab — 05 May 2016 — Istria, Croatia ::

Closer look at an old thingy . .

With my usual rate of creation, it is quite easy to get ahead of myself. I prioritize new creation over almost everything else. In each instance obsessing over the photography on par with the finest balance points and aesthetics of each arrangement. In short, i’m a bit of a psycho. And that is OK!

I said i would revisit this creation, soooooo, here’s a closer look into my wishing well thingy, Diameter here was roughly 40 cm. average pebble size matching my thumbnail.

I also collected more pebbles and rounded out the circle… :)

Enjoy

  1. Instantly reminded me of the colorful hot springs in Yellowstone, such as Morning Glory pool. Feels like it was very much emulated through the colorful rings of stone, especially when looking at the photo you had posted in the comment below. Beautiful work as always..

  2. It s perfectionism, foresight, creativity, fine motor control, perseverance, experience, determination & a love of nature & beauty. It s art with its honest fundamental spontaneity, experimentation combined with trial & error

    1. Michael – so frustrating to see what humans have done to this beautiful creation of yours. I was just reading a blog about not balancing rocks and I was thinking of you the whole time I was reading it (and getting aggravated). I was so happy to see your comment in the comments section. Keep doing what you’re doing!

    2. Either way it’s totally fine. Not something to be mad about… And there is no such thing as ‘rotten children’ without rotten adults. I’ve bin wrong before tho. Who knows..

    3. There’s a whole community of adults who hate rock balancing and knock them down whenever they see them. I just found out about it last week when I saw a bunch of rock stacks knocked down by kids, at the direction of an adult claiming, “Leave No Trace.” Don’t get me started.

  3. I don’t care what you call psycho. These are sheer MAGIC sooooo..keep posting..I will keep sharing to my family! We have actually had a dinner table discussion about your gift and pics! TY for sharing…:)
