Q: “I’ve been watchin videos in gravity glueing but there isnt any explaining how you make this arch! I dont get it! Do you have all the rocks in your hand when you place it down?? Do you bring chewing gum and stick them together(no because then it would be called gravity chew) please explain. I want to learn this art.”
A: “Freestyle arches like these i make by adding one rock at a time in a linear fashion. meanwhile using one hand/arm to cradle/hold it because it wants to wiggle… then once connection is made to the other side, a tension flows through the rocks and gravity tries to torque them out of sync. through small adjustments, i am basically balancing the torque that gravity applies on each side of the arch line…. this arch has a relatively high center of gravity in my opinion because most of the weight propped up in the center. alot of tension is required to hold that middle rock upright like that. but once the balance is reached, the heavy center rock somewhat stabilizes it too… kinda like in balances with the larger top rock..”
