This is the last balance I created in Scotland. I passed this tree many times during my previous forest balancing… the spot called out to me every time, but I just didn’t make it around until the last day.. I did not want to leave without placing a balance next to the tree… the ground littered with its fallen leaves.. <3
Not sure why the gravity was so strong here.. perhaps it was from the enormous tree to the abundance of reddened leaves, and the steady entropy of the background leaves.. either way… the spot held energy.
I felt so much life in this forest-garden behind Aldourie castle…. the trees seemed ancient and wise. The nature was thick with spirit and strength. I felt humbled by the beauty and variety of plant life…
Finally, I was very pleasantly surprised to realize this balance.. I had constructed the top four rocks before in a nearby place with more stable base. The reason this attempt surprised me was due to the lack of a solid base… the soil and leaves were so thick with moisture that the base rock could not find a good solid position.. it rocks slightly with even a gentle touch.. so the inherent sway had to be considered while balancing.. which complicates the process significantly.. I followed my intuition and did it anyway… as luck would have it… the film team was nearby shooting other angles of some of my other balances around the forest… they happened to follow their intuition as well and began filming me during construction of this one.. neither party sure of the outcome. and, like so many magic moments that come along with this art form, everything came together into the moment of singularity.. I found the zero point, let go very slowly, learning later that they had captured the zero point moment on film… <3 cheers to embracing intuition.
