This workshop came about in the moment…halfway spontaneous… The idea was premeditated, but this day in particular, I arrived to the creek early to see how high water levels were.. Turned out the water was raging at least 6 inches higher than any other day so far in “rage season”…. definitely unsuitable to conduct my idea of a workshop; a vision which included students entering the creek and getting wet. TOTALLY unsafe I thought.. so I contacted the planner with the bad news of cancellation… there was no way I wanted to put people in any kind of danger like that… so the day went on… overcast at best… I decided to take it easy and relax next to the creek.. I entered once already and almost got washed away…
Despite the cancellation, I stayed in the park next to the creek for the afternoon… events synchronized to where i had everyone next tot he creek and did a quick rock search through the muddy water… found a few rocks. and began talking about the art of STONE BALANCE… I normally never script anything… not even DJ sets… but, I guess it worked out alright “playing by ear”… a staple of the art itself… made perfect sense in my opinion.. was all quite a ZEN experience… came together at the last minute… people loved it!! :) grateful for the experience :)
Here’s a picture of part of my class :)
What do you tell them in the workshops?
usually it’s kinda random… i don’t stick to a script… usually tell about the basics… finding “tripods” …. slowing down.. breathing… a bit about “getting to know” the rocks… etc. etc.
How absolutely cool this is! :) All of your posts were inspiring today. Thanks!
