The more recent posts have mentioned various rock spots with relational reference to the ‘pier spot”. This balance was created back at the pier. As you might notice, the rocks are distinctly different from the cotton or beach spots… Here, the main characteristic is the angular shapes and uniform color. Not sure what the reason is for the difference, but as you can see, the shapes get really weird in the spot. In more complicated arrangements such as this, it is always interesting to play with negative space, especially with such angular rocks… below are variations with the same top rock, each on a different balance point.
