Snow and Steady Sub-Zero Temperatures
As fate would have it, we got more snow and freezing temperatures in Boulder, CO… My anticipation to visit the garden and my new Ice experiments was almost too much to handle.. I rushed to the creek barely after light arrived. before the sun. Here is what my garden looked like upon arrival.. :D
However, the most interesting part of this snowy morning was the ice accumulation on my new balances…
The two above photos are sunrise and sunset photos of the same balance. Notice how the ice formation and water level has evolved throughout the day of freezing temperatures.. :)
Here is a closer look at the heart-rock balance during sunset after all day freezing temperatures.. (This is currently Day 7 of the overall garden AND Day 2 of this individual balance). This was perhaps my favorite moment in the overall life of the balance. Why? because the ice shows no sign of fatigue yet as it has only been in freezing temperature thus far. And I also enjoy this stage because of the proportion of ice to rock.. a nice balance ;)
The following picture shows a bit of context for where the ice balance was in relation to my overall garden.. :) Most passersby only notice the obvious rocks above, and often miss the more subtle details such as the ice balances. :)
“This ride is special. This countryside is ancient.
Many things i do not understand.
I feel like I’ve been here before..
This ride and thoughts that come with it tell me to cherish life now because the only gift really given to you is the present. right now..”
~ spoken word from a song called “The Journeyman” by Forss
Dear friend of stones: this seems taken .. at the end of his birth. As if the stones in balance, they emerged alone, slowly, making space in the hard frost ice. As a birth. and friend, you’re sure to be human? A hug..
> Carissimo amico di pietre: questa immagine sembra scattata .. alla fine della sua nascita. Come se le pietre in equilibrio, siano emersa da sola, lentamente, facendosi spazio con forza nella brina ghiacciata. Come una nascita. ei amico, sei sicuro di essere umano? Un abbraccio.
the rock ice combination is definitely balanced as a whole.. BUT, if we are talking rocks only, then yes I think they are still balanced at the particular moment of this photo … this is the 2nd day of a 4 day lifespan.. at this point, once the temperature dropped below 0, it stayed below 0… based on observation, the rocks seem to become nudged out of balance in the 3rd day when temps rose above 0, weakening the ice… …………..purely theoretical… excited to experiment more with it :)
Are you sure it’s a balance ? ;-)
wow. u have had 5 past lives there!!!
BONITA, MUCHO GRACIAS
sometimes words are inadequate……..
And we having the same mineral nature, need to redefine our balance on this earth as human beings.
I absolutely love the Gravity Glue pics with ice.
