This is the first Rock Spot I have visited in Sweden… Already there are noticeable differences in the indigenous rocks… as with everything, there are pros and cons… such is balance… but I love the pros so far.. :) one major difference in the rocks are the jaggedness of them. These rocks are much LESS eroded and exhibit funkier shapes to play with. A HUGE plus for any creative rock stacker I imagine ;)
One other really nice part about these rocks are the mostly uniform DARK tones of the rocks… they create excellent silhouettes against most backgrounds, which really exemplify the FORM of the rocks… here it is much more about playing with shapes than colors or anything else… It really forces a new element of creativity and way of looking for rocks.. especially TOP ROCKS :)
Another magical part of Grundtjärn, Sweden is the amazing exhibit of twilight colors… they not only last longer than in Boulder, but they have more depth of color range as they slowly shift from muted pinks, blue, and yellows….into deeper more intense purples and oranges… words cannot sufficiently describe the beauty I see in this place… the environment give an amazing landscape for my rock photography :) shooting against a lake is also nice because of the vast distance between subject and background.. playing with reflections is fun too..
All these photos I was fortunate enough to shoot with my girlfriend’s camera, as I am still searching for a replacement for the one I lost in the airport.. but I’m so happy to be receiving supportive donations from several fans and friends… the response has been quite amazing to say the least… I have a strengthened hope that everything will be okay, and the theft will not result in a huge financial loss. Thanks again for all the support everyone!! <3
PS… if you have not checked out music by “Boards of Canada” yet… DO IT… it’s nice. ;) One of their album titles is “A Beautiful Place Out in the Countryside”
