Diary of a Rock Balancer ::
Stone Balance Art created and photographed by Michael Grab — 02 March 2016 — South Island, New Zealand ::
There may be some serpentine stone mixed in here since there is some in this mountain range… but the rock family in this tiny runoff creek is uniquely gorgeous in color and feel.. Such beautiful greens!! with the deeper purples n blues… like nowhere i’ve ever seen! <3
also in the most unassuming spot, looked over by most..!

This one is giving me a head-ache. I mean, the small round rock is just not in the good place! It’s a koan to me… :-)

Do you use multiple f-stop neutral density filters for these exposures?
yes. in this case the only filter i had was still too dark for the scene. had to up the iso a tiny bit while exposing at 30 seconds..
Cool! Thank you very much! I love your work, I’m a fan.
I could be wrong, but I think the lighting suggest overcast, which would bring it into the range you could manage with just ISO settings, and still get both the depth of field and exposure length. However, if it’s brighter than I’m guessing–you’d be dead right on the filter. :)
Roy Steves for this photo, having the widest aperture and longest shutter was my priority which made the filter necessary in the remaining light.
Amazing combination. The narrow depth of field and the silky water effect are absolutely beautiful! Your work as the centerpiece totally stands out!
Simply amazing. Beautiful!❤
